Strong leadership! This is what SA needs now | Elections 2009
This is only the beginning of the run-up to the 2009 election, but choosing which leaders and which political party we next 5 years will be, is now of paramount importance. True leaders in SA are hard, almost completely absent. We have plenty of politicians, good politicians, even people who know how to play politics in politics, but real leaders, get real.
The last convention has proved once again. It's the old rhetoric - criticizing your political opponents and vague promises of protection of the constitution and human rights a 20 etc.., Etc.. Then followed up with a couple of "Amandla" - and "Viva" cries for little spirit a 20 to stir because the message has little to shout about. Much like in the old days of NP and political meetings KP's cries of "Hear, hear" if you agree, "Shame, shame" as your political opponent come under fire from the speaker. Of inspiration, unity and trust, there is no mention of it. Maybe we have become accustomed to little. I would so like to get excited as report on its front page blared: "Here is a thing." But oh, we can not be surprised with a new thing. Something a "Obama element". A man who has just been elected as the next President of the U.S. with only a 12% African-American population. Can our leaders a few things from his recipe book fetch? Whether a 20 you are an Obama supporter or not, the man can inspire. Shilowa and Lekota have a simple. They struggle to their bitterness at their recent political home to hide. I was hoping that there is some potential leaders and speakers will emerge that make a difference that could make and give us hope. (I think Hennie Smit - Bertie Egoli - that the convention of curiosity attended would be a better inspirational speaker than any of the ANC wegbrekers.) The hope, however, that there are some strong leadership a 20 from their ranks will come forth. That we have a new cluster needs to unhealthy superiority of the ANC in the 2009 elections to thwart is true, but everything rises and falls on leadership, so the new group to look carefully and seek between them that can lead people unite and inspire.
Leaders must command respect and values that a nation would be proud to associate. Mr Zuma and his leadership is not that people do not and therefore is a split in the ANC so welcome. This new era of a divided ANC will however a 20 require strong leadership to manage. Our democracy is still young and it is clear that the Zuma faction not everyone understands what it means, and that you could disagree. We are moving in a very delicate time, which if not properly managed, the election a 20 conflict and violence could result. Wisdom will be required. Leaders who can manage these differences so that democracy only in name does not exist, is a prerequisite. The attitude of many of our people that the ANC together but cut off, as if the others but with satisfaction may observe, is extremely naive. The ANC remains the government of the country and what's going on, have an influence on the whole of the country. It is important that economic stability remains - especially now with the global economic crisis, where SA, even with political stability, as a market risk seen.
The DA does not have strong leaders, but I must admit Helen Zille was an exception to the convention. First she attended, without reservations, a sign of someone who does not feel threatened. (Credit to the afsplitsers that other political parties invited.) She seized this opportunity and less confidence instilled by a group that traditionally would not have her support. She became one with them and created the impression that she understood them. She gives the impression she is sincere and not playing politics. Whether she will succeed in the 2009 elections, disgruntled ANC members to the DA pull is doubtful, or maybe it's just too early to say. Other political parties, however, worry about the impact she makes. It is time for her now-Mayor of Cape Town, hanged. She should be in Parliament and be seen as a national leader a 20 and not a region or a city. If there is no one capable person to fill her position there to take over, the DA but very poor leadership.
One example of poor decision-making that is on the side of the Freedom Front Plus. The decision not to attend the convention accepted, they will be sure of a few well-devised strategic reasons. The fact is, a golden opportunity is gone. Here is a platform for your message of hope (direct TV coverage, with local and international media to dream) but you say no thank you. How can people hear your message and judge if you are not even there? How small and irrelev
